What the heck is a Wedding Invitation Suite & how much should I spend?
Firstly, congratulations on your engagement! That is so exciting! This is a time full of joy but also a lot of stress and wondering how you’re going to afford all the things you need for your wedding. It can all feel really overwhelming and after all your research, you start to wonder what you can cut to help save on cost. (By the way, I have a free downloadable Wedding Timeline Checklist! There’s so much that goes into a wedding but arguably one of the most important elements are the wedding invitations. Your wedding invitations will set the tone of your wedding and tell your guests if they should expect a black tie affair, a casual backyard wedding, or something in-between. The theme and aesthetic of your wedding should guide the design of the invitation. But, what all do you need?
Usually, a wedding invitation suite includes the invitation, the RSVP card, and the detail card, which gives guests important information they need to know like if you’ve booked a block of rooms at a hotel for them, where to park for the wedding, if the ceremony is in one location and the reception in another, recommended shoes, or anything else they may need to know beforehand.
For a more a casual invitation, you may only need the invitation and you can place the contact information for the RSVPs onto the invitation. If your wedding will be more formal, the full wedding invitation suite is recommended.
There’s also more you can add to a wedding invitation suite to make it a little more elegant like custom envelope liners, belly bands (which hold all the different elements together), custom wax stamp seals, ribbons and more. All of those extra items can add to the cost of the invitation suite quite a bit so if you’d like all the accoutrement make sure you have the budget for it.
For a custom designed-by-me wedding invitation suite (without specialty printing or die cut cards), the initial price begins at $1695 for a quantity of 100. This price includes the custom design, the invitation, the RSVP card, the detail card, envelopes, and shipping directly to you. Any additional elements like foil printing, die cut cards, double-thick paper, or envelope liners will add cost. And don’t worry, I always order a little extra so you have a keepsake too!
But what if you can’t spare $1695 or more for wedding invitations? I feel you. Weddings are expensive and it helps if you can cut cost somewhere. I offer digital downloads of wedding invitation suites that cost just $24. What’s great about this option is they’re completely editable. After you purchase the template, you’ll receive a PDF with a link to the template. You’ll need a free Canva account to access the template but once you have that, you are free to edit the template to suit your needs. When you’re ready, you can print them out yourself or you can send them to a professional printer. The PDF also has some useful tips and information on how to print the template and different papers you can use. The only downside is the digital downloads don’t come with envelopes but you can find the envelopes you need at papersource.com. They have white envelopes but they also offer envelopes in different colors! Just make sure the pen you use will show up if you choose a dark color.
